Mercersburg Recreational Soccer Registration Now Open

Regstration Closes August 1st.

For this upcoming season, we've modified our ages a bit to allow players to take park in the divion that best suits them in order to best prepare them for the next level.

Our program is separated into two groups:

4-6 year olds aka "Little Kickers" - This level is for young players looking to be introduced to the sport. Basic elements of the game will be taught at this level. Practices are held on Tuesdays for about 1 hour. Parent coaches are led by a trainer in practice.

6-8 year olds aka "Little Revs" - This  level is for players familiar with the basic elements of the game. Fundamentals of soccer will be taught to provide players will the tools to participate at the next level which is competitive travel soccer. Practices are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays for about 1 hour each. Parent coaches are led by a trainer on Tuesdays and independently coach on Thursdays.

Games will be held on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. Rescheduled games (due to weather or other circumstances) may reside on a different day.

Note: Ages overlap to allow players to participate in a later or earlier program that best suits them. The little Revs program also overlaps with the first age available for competitive travel soccer (8 years old.)

Coaching education will be provided by a Trainer who takes care of writing the sessions for the week and acts as an informational tool for the Parent Coaches to utilize.

Parent-Coaches will be sent the session for the week via email and will arrive 15 minutes before the session to ask questions and discuss with the Trainer as well as the other coaches. Parent-Coaches will also meet 15 minutes after the session to provide feedback of their experiences.

Note: The Trainer will only be present for the first session of the week.  Parent Coaches will have the option of working solely with the team their child is on for the week.

When are practices?

The FTTB Program runs on Tuesday evenings from 5:45-6:45pm for the Little Kickers, and Tuesday & Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30pm for the Little Revs. Times may flex slightly based on daylight savings.

What are registration costs?

Program Registration is $55 per player for the season. This includes a Green FTTB TYSC Jersey and an award (trophy or medal) at season's end. If players have a matching previous jersey from the last 2 years that they still fit into, they may use this jersey and receive a $10 discount on registration.

The Benefits of the FTTB Program:

  • Helps to create a professional environment
  • Allows all players to follow the same curriculum specific to their age group
  • Curriculum is repeatable - no longer will some players be taught by a coach with 20 years of experience while another has a first-time parent who is learning the game themselves!
  • Eliminate win/lose record as a means to identify quality play
  • Develop coaching techniques
  • Creates a strong club culture
  • Better use of field space
  • Easier to evaluate players for future placement
  • Ease in moving players around based on ability or comfort
  • Higher Parent willingness to coach (historically a struggle)
  • Allows parents with multiple children to be able to attend practices and games regardless of team placement

TYSC believes that the FTTB Program provides the best individuals to our travel program, the best coaches to our travel program, and allow for the most amount of fun!
