Beginning with the 2026–27 season, USYS, US Club Soccer, and AYSO transitioned from the old January 1 – December 31 calendar birth year system to an August 1 – July 31 cutoff, better aligning soccer age groups with school grade levels. This mainly affects players born August–December, who move down one age group compared to the old system.
